Helping the animals

Caring for lost and abandoned animals
Over 1,000 dogs and cats are cared for annually at the shelter by our trained and dedicated staff - on duty 365 days a year.

Lessening the numbers of animals in need
Our Spay/Neuter Education and Financial Assistance Program reduces animal overpopulation and animal euthanasias.

Finding loving homes faster
The monthly pet adoption newspaper page, internet web site, Dog Walks, and word-of-mouth promotion by scores of volunteers encourages rapid placement.

Improving the future for all creatures
We work through school programs, classes, publications, and political action to better the lives of animals.

For our community

Providing companionship and healing
Volunteers bring animals to convalescent centers to offer the healing gifts of friendship and unconditional love.

Connecting pet owners with pet owners
Events like our annual Dog Walk and pet education courses bring animal lovers together and enhance community spirit.

Making our community safer
Together with the City Animal Control, we educate the community about responsible pet ownership so that animals do not endanger humans.

Recycling for treasure hunters
The Paw Prints Thrift Shop, run by volunteers to support the shelter, is a hot shopping spot. Pre-owned treasures find another useful life and every profit dollar benefits animals.

... and you

Finding you the perfect pet
We'll help you select a lovable, healthy pet. Shelter animals are vaccinated and evaluated behaviorally and physically before adoption. Each adopted pet receives a medical exam donated by a local veterinarian after adoption.

Finding your lost pet
We reunite hundreds of lost animals with their owners, providing a safe and loving environment for lost pets until their owners can retrieve them.

Saving you time
We offer quick and easy dog licensing right at our shelter.

Helping you pay for appropriate care
Spaying and neutering is necessary and kind, but can be a financial burden for some. We can help with these costs through our Spay Neuter Assistance Program(SNIP).

Memorializing your human kind or pet
It's so hard to lose a friend. We can honor your loss with a memorial in our member newsletter or with an engraved brass plate on one of our memorial plaques.
