ANIMAL CARE SPECIALIST

OBJECTIVE	To improve shelter animals' chance of adoption by maintaining a clean, presentable environment and working to improve the animals' appearance and temperament.
DIRECT SUPERVISOR	Shelter Manager
SPECIFIC DUTIES	Clean/ sterilize kennels Provide constant supply of fresh water for animals Groom/bathe animals Socialize/ exercise animals Maintain a clean shelter environment
QUALIFICATIONS	Love of animals and desire for close contact with them Recognition and acceptance of euthanasia as a necessary element of shelter operations (Volunteers will never have to witness or assist euthanasia) Knowledge of animal handling/behavior helpful but not required Ability to follow instructions Ability to work independently with little supervision
TIME REQUIRED	Minimum 2-4 hour commitment twice a month ( We encourage more time)
TRAINING	On –the-job training with shelter staff and other volunteers

AVAILABLE TIMES	Flexible, prefer Monday thru Saturday in the mornings.
